How To Potty Train Your Puppy
The easiest way to potty train your puppy is to paper
train him. This is an easy and effective way to help the
experience along quickly. The paper training method will
also teach you how to train a dog in a much cleaner way. How
to paper train your puppy means being able to remove the
soiled papers which is less messy, dirty and grimy. This is
a great help to dog owners who live in condos or apartments.
The first most important thing to do is to confine the
puppy to a small, enclosed space at night, or when you are
not home. Maybe a closed off or gated part of the kitchen,
laundry room, basement, or bathroom. A crate is an excellent
space to use. Line the space with plenty of newspapers, and
make sure that the entire area is covered.
Eventually you will want your puppy to go outside to
relieve himself, so make sure you are paying close attention
to the times he will need to go to the bathroom. These are
fairly obvious, like after eating, drinking, waking up, in
the morning, and right before bedtime. Put your
 puppy
outside at those times, and even every couple of hours when
you are home during the day, just to get him used to going
outside. You need to let him know that he will not be going
on the papers forever. It is important to praise him when he
does go outside. Most people who want to know how to
paper train my puppy
hope to use paper only for the times they are
gone during the day or evening and can't let their dog
outside.
Another great idea is to use a keyword when you want your
puppy to go potty. Maybe something as simple as "Potty time"
or "Go Poop". This will give him a clue that it is potty
time. These simple commands are the basics of how to
housebreak a puppy.
While paper training, and when your puppy is confined to
his space, make sure to keep some chewy toys on hand so he
doesn't get too bored or mischievous. How to train subborun
dogs is to be patient and not lose your temper. Remember you
are establishing who is the leader here and some dogs breeds
just take more time to housebreak. Accidents might happen,
so if the puppy goes on a non-covered area, just re-paper
that area and try again. Slowly start to decrease the
papered area until the puppy gets the hang of going on the
paper. Once you have eliminated most of the paper, try
putting a small piece outside so that he associates the
paper with going pee out doors.
Knowing how to
potty
train your puppy will help you
tremendously with knowing how to train a dog, and prevent
some unwanted accidents. Remember that most puppies do not
fully understand nor comprehend the process until at least 6
months of age, so give it time and patience.
